Bruise on top of head??

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone can give me guidance on how (if at all ) to handle this? This morning Goliath had a dark spot on the top right of his head. It looks kinda like a bruise and feels a little soft. He's acting normal and eating normal... Has anyone seen anything like this before? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Just some Background info (in case it might help): He is in a 54 gallon enclosure, he eats about 10 superworms a day and dandelion greens as staples and gets fruits and other veggies occasionally with it. His basking spot is between 100 & 105 degrees. his cool side is about 80degrees. He's going #2 about once every two days.

Hm, that doesn't sound good. It sort of sounds like retained shed, but it's soft. Can you post pictures please?

Hey Tom!
The spot could possibly be a burn, fungus, or something else. Can a burn be a possibility?

To load pictures:
get a free account to photobucket.com. you can load the picture on there and then get the IMG code. Copy and paste that code onto here and press preview to make sure it worked before submitting the message. There is also a topic on the forum on how to load pictures from photobucket, but its simple. Just load, copy, and paste!

No, I don't think it's a burn. His heat lamp is on a stand above the top of his enclousure, besides, he can't get up to the top screen to touch it anyway. I'm using a probe thermometer and getting the actual temp from the spot he's basking in. I'll go to phot bucket and try to get a pic of it here.

ok, here's picture...and on a side note, the spot actually lightened in color signifcantly as the day progressed. for right now, we are keeping a close eye on it.

the spot went away for a while and now came back a couple of days later... we gave him a bath today and then the light got darker again...help please??? :roll:
