One of my babies apparently snagged his nail in my daughter's shirt and it looks like it snapped off. There is still a bit of a nail there, but he is holding that toe slightly up and the rest of the nail is obviously missing. He doesn't appear to be in any pain and there isn't any open sore etc. Do you think it will grow back?

I don't think so, but do keep an eye on that toe, if it gets infected you will want to seek vet assistance immediately !

Thanks, Janie. There isn't any sort of damage to the toe itself, the nail is just broken (there is still some nail, but it is missing the tip). I'll certainly keep an eye on it!

Well, mammit! I just went to bath them and the other baby (they are not housed together) seems to be missing a nail. WTH????

I will say, they are weirdly in sync. Currently they are in a large tank with a divider while I wait for my new tanks from boamaster to arrive. They tend to be looking in the same direction and making the same faces frequently. They both used to sleep up high on sticks. On the same night they both decided to sleep on the ground (either under the hide or in the blankie). The only thing they don't tend to match up on is eating. One eats a lot one meal and then the other eats a lot the next meal. Strange little lizards...

did it break off below the quick? It shoudl grow right back as long as the quick is not damaged and it gets infected or something. You can cut their nails with a regular pair of nail clipers occasionally. If you dont have any rough tiles or somethng in the viv they can wear down their nails on, they should be cut. Again just make sure you dont cut the quick. It is best to do this at bed time when they are sleepy so that they sit still for it. They willlet you know if your too close for comfort by shaking foot.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
