Bring my beardie to the beach

Hey I’m going to the beach soon (it’s very close to my house) and I was wondering if it was ok to bring Finley with me. He is perfectly healthy as far as I know (aside from maybe a possible parasite but the people in here said it was most likely not a parasite and he isn’t acting sick in the slightest) and he has a secure harness I know for a fact he can’t get out of. I wouldn’t put him the sand at all and I’d be holding him the entire time. I’ve taken him on trips out of the house before and he seemed to enjoy them. I don’t know how he’d react to the beach tho. Is it safe to take him?

That is fine! As long as he has an area of shade provided for him too so that he can choose to escape the sun if he wants.

That's perrfectly fine! I had to bring my beardies with me to a long trip to the beach last year (I was too afraid to keep them home due to the horrid wheather at the time), and they were fine. Especially when I brought them to the beach, They loved it.

All three had a great time basking and digging and even playing in the very shallow parts of the water.

So I'd say: Go for it! Just do make sure to bring a carrier that has shade in case they seem overwhelmed, and do leash them in case they decide to run off.

If you must take the dragon to the beach with you , as Hippy says,

>> and don't leave the dragon unattended for even a moment ( seagulls are vicious as are sea eagles (do you get sea eagle there ) and there's always a change a hawk is about).
>> I'd suggest a long bit of pine dowel with a eye screw

on one end to drive into the sand and tie the harness leash to so the dragon is securely stationed and can't be taken easily.

I agree with the seagulls thing, definitely always watch them extremely closely. Also keep a close eye on their reactions, if they seem stressed or overwhelmed, put them back in the carrier.

And also great idea with the Eye screw thing! Never thought of that.

Finley had a great time! He was a little scared at the beginning so I left him in the carrier but he calmed down after a while. We stayed there pretty late so he did take a nap in his carrier for the second half but other than that he was pretty interested in looking at the water

That's so cool you got to take him to the beach! I wanted to take Boga but all of the pet friendly beaches around me are constantly full of dogs and I didn't feel comfortable with that.
