Bright red blood in five year old beardie poop

My beardie, Ozzie has been acting just fine. He had some diarrhea yesterday and then ate great last night. He ate dubia roaches. I have my own colony. He did have diarrhea yesterday morning but there was no blood in it . He is still acting normal but I got him out of his cage to let him run around for a while and he pooped about a nickel size spot of bright red blood on my floor. I use paper for the bottom of his tank, no sand. He regularly gets his salad every morning. I have him in a bath right now with some Pedialyte in it. What else can I do? We have no vets around here that take care of reptiles. Help he's my baby :( I wanted to add that his tank is about 100 on the warm side and about 85 on the cool side and he has a UVB bulb. I have never seen him drink water. So, I spray him often. When I put him in a bath, like right now I have to hold his head up or he will drown.

So far, from what I've been reading on the internet, I have given him a warm bath with some Pedialyte in it and then wrapped him in a towel, then warmed a rice bag and put it under his belly and layed him on my chest for about an hour. Now I'm just watching to see what happens. It's 70 miles to the nearest vet.

Poor guy. Blood isn't good in any situation, but bright red blood may just mean that he strained a bit to poop. I'd keep a close eye on him for now since you don't have easy access to a vet. Look for lethargic behavior or continued bleeding. For the time being, I'd offer him extra water drops on his nose and only feed him soft foods like squash or even baby food so it passes more easily. Hopefully it was just a one off thing and will resolve on it's own.

I've had good luck rotating between squash, green beans, and sweet potato baby food when I've needed to syringe feed. If you want to offer squash bits, just cut them into small worm shapes that will be easy for him to handle.

Hello,

Oh poor Ozzie. I agree though, bright red blood may be just from straining perhaps. Do you have a good UVB light for him & give regular calcium supplementation for him?
Were his urates hard or soft?
He should hopefully love the baby food, too.
Let us know how he is doing.

My beardie is a similar age with a similar situation: 2 drops of bright red blood when he peed. I've been taking him outside a lot recently with the warmer weather and he's been extremely active and loving his superworms. (I offer salads 1-2 times a week but they almost always seem untouched.) His light timer broke so I'm hoping it is just the irregular light schedule. I just ordered a new timer. I'll give him some baby food too. Fingers crossed!

That is wonderful news Ozzie is doing much better! :D At least he has not had anymore blood then, that is terrific!
I hope he continues to improve.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
