I have a 2 1/2 year old female dragon that has been laying eggs since she was 11 months old. She has laid 10 clutches of eggs so far and they are infertile because she has not been breed. My question is will it be ok to breed her or is it wise not too. I do not want anything to happen to her. Her weight is good and she eats really good. Thanks

Honestly there is no necessity to breed her plus males can be very agressive and you can have up around 100 babies from one breeding session that you will have to worry about finding homes for(beardies hold sperm for awhile).

I know it is not necessary to breed her. I have 7 dragons and I was just wanting to know if it would be ok to breed her one time or if it is best not to breed her. I know they can have several clutches from just one breeding. If it is going to put her health in danger than I don't want to breed her.

well like i said the males can get overly excited and hurt her especially if she is not recepetive to breeding and it could strees her out quite a bit.

Denduran87 is right, but she is at an acceptable age. To avoid stress, simply keep her in the cage with the male only enough so that they can mate several times. If he does get overexcited, you should separate them, and if she does get a few cuts or sores, which she probably will, just use a small amount of Neosporin on the cuts. If they're really bad, then your vet should be able to treat them. Breeding is extremely rewarding if you do your research and understand the cost of it, along with the knowledge to keep your dragons in the best of health.

Hope this helps!

I have decided not to breed her. I don't want anything to happen to her. I got 2 males about a month ago and they are small like her and was thinking about breeding her with one of those but I am going to bred another male and female I have. I have 7 dragons, 3 males and 4 females. Out of 4 females she is the only one that keeps laying eggs and she started at a young age.

I'm glad you've came to a conclusion that works for you and your dragon. Just remember, any female four or over is probably too old to breed. Since dragon meopause occurs about halfway through their life, and they live for 8-12 years, then it's best to breed a younger dragon, otherwise their can be complications. Granted i don't know the age of your dragons, but just thought I'd mention it.

Good luck!!!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
