Breeding Superworms

Hi I just recently decided to give breeding superworms a go since they are quite a bit of money. I started a week ago , I keep them in individual containers. It said to also keep them in a warm dark place, so they are inside a drawer. I noticed yesterday my worms are all curled up like ~ C ~ that, this is just the next stage right?

im starting my own colony as well. i have 5 worms curled up. all that means is that they are going into the "alien stage" they will turn into pupae and soon become beetles. once they do that you put them into a container. i suggest you take the food out. they dont need it. the more they are stressed out the faster they will turn into pupae. once they turn into pupae they will be like that for a few more days to a week.

i dont know how you do yours but i cut out the bottom of the container and replaced it with a screen. that way when the beetles lay there eggs the eggs will drop into the container underneath. if you have it like that you dont have to touch the beetles. hope that helps!

It helps alot and just yesterday I bought 50 extra since I just decided to start breeding with some of the 14 he had left. hopefully i'll never need to buy them again!

You can buy a simple window screen from walmart. something like this..

thats a good start. i started with a little bit myself just to make sure im doing everything right.
im going to order 500- 1000 worms from online and use at least 100 of them for the colony.
and use the rest to just feed him. the reason im doing that so i dont have to buy anymore worms for awhile, as im trying to get my colony going.

mine likes beardie bites and salad more. I was told to not give mine more than 10 a week

ive never gave my beardie those before.
just worms. i used to feed him some pellets when he wanted a snack. but i kinda stopped with that too.
and give him only 10 supers a week??

When I fed supers daily, I gave my beardie 12-15 a day. He was about 10-12 inches and also eating 30-40 adult crickets a day at the time. Now he eats 8 -12 XL dubia nymphs and 5-6 supers.

I don't see why you would limit them to 10 a week. They are a bit fattening, and I wouldn't use them exclusively as a staple, but there's no reason to limit them that much, especially if they are getting a balanced diet of other feeders as well.

40~ a week is really the limit.

You shouldn't be feeding any aged/sized dragon more than 5-6 a day.
