Today I got the go ahead call for breeding my lizard Ivan. We have a check up with the herp vet that told us we could, just to make sure that her advice is right, on March 2nd. I already have a list of friends who would/might be interested in the babies! So excited! Pope Ivan is as well! We will either be breeding him with a citrus female named Zoey or another citrus female named Koopa. Ivan is a blood red x citrus mix. So the babies will be adorable! My friend who owns Koopa is the most knowledgeable person I know for bearded dragons so I'm so excited to have her help me out! Also, I have the number of my towns most awesome herp vet if I need her help! I've been doing TONS of breeding research and my herp vet also has some professional papers for me to read about this that I am picking up tomorrow! So excited! Will keep you guys updated!
Also, does anybody know if you have to be licensed to sell bearded dragons in the state of Ohio? I wouldn't know where to find this information. Is it different selling them at home rather than selling them at a show?
Here's my beautiful boy!

just really do you homework before you do haha, it get's reallllly expensive feeding a bunch of little mouths that eat 2-3 times a day, and hundreds of crix each time they eat lol

Yeah me and all my friends are going halfsies so its less expensive on all of us. I will definitely keep you all posted on what is happening. Today I took him to see the female we wanted to breed him with initially but she's a year older and like two times wider so I think I'm going to go with a younger and smaller female depending on what my vet says. I will be meeting with my vet March 2nd at 6:30 pm and will be bringing Ivan and two females to see which one will work best. :)

Good job for doing research and getting help from a vet. How old is she though? She looks a little young to be bred.

Oh, I just realized Ivan is a male. Your post was a little confusing and called him a "she" a few times so I got mixed up ... my bad :)

It's definitely a he, I'm so sorry for the mix up! Haha. Which picture? My avatar or the picture I posted? The picture I posted is actually from like a month or two ago. And the avatar is from when he was one month old. Also I wanted to mention that I picked up the papers from my vet today and there are A LOT of them so I will be spending the evening reading up! Haha.

Today Ivan and Zoey (the female I might be breeding him with) and me and Zoey's owner went to the local pet smart to pick up more supplies. They had so much fun! Ivan and Zoey were so nice to eachother. I think if Ivan copes this well with other dragons I might get him a real friend because I do think he is lonely.

Thanks to my good friend Drache316 I will be testing all the possible contenders for breeding with Ivan and also Ivan himself. :) It'll be good to know regardless of who we wind up breeding with.

I don't know if anybody is reading this anymore but I have very good news :)
Today was our vet appointment and the vet said that Ivan and Zoey could breed as long as we keep them supervised when we're together at all times. She said this because Zoey is a decent amount bigger than Ivan and we don't want her hurting him if she's not in the mood. But it seems like she is because both her and Ivan were trying to mate with eachother on Zoey's owners shoulder. Haha. Ivan was getting so fierce! I have never seen his beard that big and black! And Zoey's colors came out so nice when she saw him trying to breed with her. She wasn't bothered much at all! I'm so surprised! And she winds up getting pregnant I will be so excited!!! She said that we should start feeding Ivan and Zoey one day old fresh pinky mice because they have much more protein than crickets (or meal worms in Zoey's case because she doesn't like crickets.) I think we might wind up building our own tanks for all this junk so that way we don't have to pay absurd prices for four pieces of glass and some plastic to hold it all together.
Also, on another note, she mentioned that the reason why my friends 5 bearded dragons died is probably because the seller of the worms and crickets at the pet show was feeding the worms and crickets some garlic, scallions and other types of onions that actually happen to be toxic to bearded dragons and many other animals. I thought this was strange but she said a lot of people, especially breeders, use those types of things to keep other infestations away like other types of worms and maggots and stuff? Crazy. So I think I will ask the guy about that. But I'm still confused on why he said he hasn't gotten any other reports of dead reptiles due to his food if this is the case.
I hope you guys are as excited as I am! Probably not, but still. :D So pumped.

So we tried to breed our pair for the first official time on Friday. Ivan was in the mood, but Zoey kinda wasn't. I have been watching tons of mating videos and Zoey just wasn't really returning the signs. And then she would walk away, at which point I would've thought from seeing other beardie matings Ivan would have gone after her all quick and stuff. But I don't think he did because she didn't indicated that she wanted to, no arm waving or head bobbing or anything... though her color was a lot brighter when Ivan was around and she enjoyed walking on top of him several times. We watched them interact hoping it would happen for three hours straight. Does it usually take a couple times of putting them together for them to mate? When we took them to the vet, it was the third time they saw each other and Ivan and Zoey were so ready but I didn't want Ivan to get hurt and I didn't have the doctors permission yet so I was iffy. They also tried the first time we paired them up. I don't know. Maybe it's because the weather was gloomy that day. We will keep trying though.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
