Hey everyone, I've had this beardie for a couple months now and since then I've been under the assumption that he was a male. Now I'm not sure of his exact age because the pet store I bought him from was also unsure. The only items that were in his (or her?) tank at the store was a heat rock and some red sand. The only thermometer that was in there was face down in the sand, so there was no way to know if his temperatures were right at all (I'm assuming they weren't because every time I went in the store he was sitting in the corner behind the heat rock). Thinking about it now, I'm not even entirely sure if they had a UVB bulb for him. Anyway, I bought the little guy a couple months ago and since then he is as happy as a clam. Here are a few pics:
Here's Gordon Freeman on his hammock:
I wanted a picture that would show a good reference of size when he's older, and I thought a sleeve of crackers would be easily available and familiar enough to give a visual :
Here's a pic of his whole tank. The food and water bowls are out of the picture as I was in the process of changing his salad and what not. I realize that he is better off with a solid substrate but I plan to use reptile carpet or something similar when I change it after Christmas.
Here he is just chilling on a rock, just a picture I thought looked cool:
Eyeing up a cricket that's intruding on his sphinx:
Here he is watching MASH with me:
Now for the real reason for this thread. Can anyone tell me if he is a boy or a girl? These pictures were all taken with my cell phone so the quality is not the greatest. I've always figured he was a boy, but as I don't even know his age I don't know if he's too young to tell. Can anyone tell from his size (close to 12 inches) if he is old enough to gender? And if he is, can you tell which? So far he's looking female.
