Bowel Movements

How often should a baby beardie move there bowels? I'm sure he's fine, but he hasn't pooped in 2 days as of yesterday. I gave him a short bath (he was squirmy) and massaged his little belly, but nothing yet. Today will be day 3 if he doesn't go. We got him Sunday afternoon and he was without UVB lighting for 3 days as I had to order it online. He's acting fine, interactive and eating very well. I always make sure the food he eats is no bigger than the space between his eyes, he's eating crickets (1/4 inch) and I have been offering him collards mixed with a little blueberries or strawberries. We just fed him about 20 calcium dusted crickets and he's gobbling them up!!! He pooped on Sunday and Monday so I figured he would go every day.

Hi there...looking at your username, is the little guy's name Winston ? It sounds like he's overall acting like a healthy dragon so far. Be sure he has the proper temps. in his tank ... a few days w/out uvb won't hurt, but lack of heat will keep them from digesting food. That means he has to stay in his tank most of the day, especially after eating. Offer a bit of water dripped or sprayed [ gently ] on his snout to be sure he's hydrated. If he doesn't poo in the next day or so, get baby food squash or canned pumpkin [ no spices ] and add a 1-2 drops of veg. oil. That usually does the trick. A warm bath every few days is fine as long as it doesn't stress him too much and be EXTRA careful if you rub his belly. We cannot gauge the right amount of pressure and could cause pain to a baby dragon.
