Piss me off. Is there a way to ban them? Like add the little box with the letters in order to become a member or something?

Hello,

Alex does his best. :D It is virtually impossible to get them all blocked. Otherwise, he may block too many IP's that are legitimate.

I haven't been on this site long, but it seems within the last couple of months, we've had a rash of spam bots. Is this the norm for forums (this is generally the only one I frequent), or, specifically, for this forum?

Forums in general are hit with spam like we've had. We have certainly had a recent bump in the degree of attempts to spam. Spammers seem to function in waves (much like email spam).

The best thing to do is to report the topic by clicking on the small exclamation mark to the right of the topic's post so that the mods and I can take care of it as soon as possible.

Thanks,
-Alex

Some days it's just all I see when I come online. Being in a totally different timezone makes it irritating but, at least the mods get rid of them when they do get online :)

Maybe we need a mod across the pond. I'm here a lot late nights/early mornings, and you're right, sometimes it is all you see, and to be honest, it deters me from posting. Sometimes, these bots make hundreds of posts before somebody gets to it. Don't get me wrong, I think the mod team does a great job here, and do what they can. I've moderated a few forums myself and I know it's not easy to keep up with. But maybe spreading out the mod team bit geographically wouldn't be a bad idea.

I think you have hit the nail on the head- even someone who has access to whatever is needed to delete the spam etc.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
