Bored???

Hi, me again (well you lot are so helpful!!!! :notworthy: )

Freckles has woken from his brumnation, full of beans. He is a lot friendlier before - he will sit on me for quite a while now!! He's still being picky with his food (he's a man!), and when offeed locusts will eat 1! (Before he'd eat 4 - 6 depending on size). But weight wise he's doing fine - not losing and if anything is a bit on the plump side

Anyhew, since waking he has started 'banging' on the glass doors - all the time!! He runs up and down the glass doors rubbing his nose, banging his nose and scratching at the glass... as soon as I open the doors he stops, then will try and get out! Before he never used to be bothered about coming out and I had to 'force' him out and then all he'd do is hide. Now he just seems to want to be out all the time. Don't get me wrong - it's lovely to see him so active, previously he was always, well, quiet!

Just really want to know if anyone else has this problem?
Is it normal behaviour?
Is he bored?
Is there anything I can do to stop him? (worried about the constant 'bashing' of his nose!)

I also don't get him out as soon as he starts banging as don't want to create a bad habit (I bang she gives him type of thing). Oh one more thing, as far as I'm aware he only does it when there are people in the front room...almost like an attention thing - he's always loved people watching and hated being in the back room where he didn't see many people...

Ok, now I'm waffling!!!! Ok, over to you experts..... :D

he can see his reflection mate that is why he is next to the glass all day. Just put up some paper on the inside of the tank bottom if you want this to stop.

I would suggest feeding him small-medium crickets and woodie dusted. This with vegetables

Thanks for your reply, I did wonder that. Also just watched the two video's on head bobbing & waving, and what he does is mimicking this only against the glass? Could it be that? I know that my torts are a lot 'friskier' when they wake from hibernation and tend to show dominance....

My beardie does that as well well when people are in the room because he wants out. I let him run around the house until he runs out of steam (15-20 minutes) before I put him back in his tank.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
