Bonding and petting

Wheres your beardies favorite spot to be pet? i found some spots they kinda like but none that they love, i wanna grow a bigger bond with them any ideas? i sometimes hand feed and hold them everyday but theyd rather sit in their cage. I tried bathing them.. they both hate it lol

I have 2 beardies who are both very different.

Sandy is my baby. She's about 5 months old and still isn't too fond of being held. She likes to try to jump from my hand so I don't hold her for very long. She doesn't like baths unless I hold her above the water and splash the water on her. She just leans down to drink then she's done. As for her favorite place to be...she has a log that goes across her cage for basking that she lays on at least half the day.

Hoss is my adult. He's probably a few years old and LOVES being held. If I put him in his cage he gets grumpy and looks miserable. He'll do anything to be held and climb on my shoulder. If I'm holding him on my hands he'll stretch his arms out towards my chest to try to get closer to me. It's so cute to watch. He never had baths where I got him from so he's still getting used to them. He usually tries to jump out until I calm him down and show him that he's ok and that "mommy" is there.

Just keep an eye on your little one(s) and just watch where they like to be and what they like to do. Sometimes their personalities change with time.

my little guy will climb on my hand when i put it in the tank he is 4 months and just started doing this about a month ago. but sometimes he will open his mouth at me if i try to pick him up without him climbing himself so funny, he is a jerk. loves the bath but when he is done he lets me know for sure. i never thought it would be soooooooooo cool having a lizard. Dargons are like the dogs of the lizard kingdom :mrgreen:

Harley prefers sitting next to me during the day or basking in her cage with me in sight of her and the tv on. She is much more alert and "happy" looking when she can see me or sit next to me on the couch. She is also lazy cause of winter so if I put her on the bed and lay down and watch tv, she will walk over to me and dig on the blanket next to me and lay down by me which is so cute. At night, she has to be wrapped in her blanket and put on my chest while I watch tv and she sleeps.

As for favorite petting spots, it differs. Sometimes she likes her beard rubbed. Other times its her back or top of her head when she is going to sleep on me.

I grew a bond with Harley cause I got her when she was 6 weeks old and she slept on my every day for almost 2 years now. I also handfed her and gave her baths next to me and pretty much she always saw me and always got petted, spoiled with her favorite food, worms of any kind. Now like I said, if im not in the room, she sits in her corner with her head half down like its almost sulking :lol: Then when I come in, she perks up, her eyes widen and her head stands up high and she watches me as I work on the computer or turn on the tv. Then her time is split between me and the tv :lol: I swear she loves watching the tv especially animal shows with all the nature stuff haha. Probably not the real reason she does all this but I like to think it is and it does happen, just probably not the reasons I'm thinking of.
