Blue tongue skink question

Ah, if I do go with a skink. I guess I'll just get some supplies this reptile expo and get my skink at the one in a couple of months from now.

Another question. On bluetongueskinks.org I've heard that they may poop on you at first, did that happen to you?

If the lizard poos on you when you first interact with it , it's terrified of you, and a fear response.

If it poos on you when it's used to you and tame and trusts you, it's your fault because you didn't pay attention to it's "I need to poo" body language.

Also, I've seen people using heat mats or bulbs. I would think bulbs are better for them seeing as they're diurnal but I would like to know what you use, Kingofnobby.

For my two I use par38 incandescent basking bulbs + 26W UVB150 bulbs and a heatpad (on a thermostat that runs 24/7 and is set at 34 degC and goes under the hides).

I'm coastal tropical so never get a frost here even on the coldest winter night (never colder than 10 degC here) and I live in the natural range of eastern bluetongue skinks and even get wild ones regularly visiting my yard / garden.

My BT tanks are homemade and made from plywood 4ft L x 2ft W and 15inches tall each
