Blue Footed Beardie

Has anyone else had the problem of VitaSand dying your dragons feet and tail? Well I used blue and now I have a blue dragon. Will the color wear off with time or maybe when he sheds? Immediately bought some cage carpet though. Lesson learned.

The color should wear off, at least I hope so ... .Good move on the reptile carpet ,I use that as well ,but will be switching to tile as soon as possible. If ya can post a pic ,would love to see your beardie with blue feet ! Oh ,had a friend that used news paper under a batch of hatchlings and they turned black until the first shed. I'm thinking this is the same type of issue.
Good luck with your dragon !

It should come off next time he sheds. Yes, reptile carpet, tile, or non-adhesive shelf liner are all much better choices! No more blue dragon.

Just be glad that blue feet were the only negative side-effect of Vita-Sand that you experienced. Worst case scenario, you could have ended up with an impacted dragon instead of a blue one. Glad you learned your lesson the easy way.

My girl Rex experienced the same thing a few years ago ,but with orange sand. You will be happy to know that yes it will go away. The majority of it probably won't come off until the next shed though.Get used to those blue feet, they may be there for a good while.

Same thing happened with me. The petstore told me to get calcisand. I got the blue one like you. I found this site and switched to tile. The blue feet and tail lasted quite awhile. Take pictures, you'll laugh later. So my baby beardie pics are blue feet and tail. My Bindi was so tiny, only 7 months ago. She is huge now. I love her!! Chris

Could you post some pics? Sounds silly... I had a purple dragon (think Barney gone wrong) and still kick myself for not getting pictures :)

Have you thought about getting tile? I used sand until I read about the risks, then switched to carpet (which i liked). I had heard about using slate tiles (cheap at the home improvement stores) and switched- I love it- and Dragon does, too! It helps keep his nails filed down somewhat and helps retain heat pretty well in the winter. Just a thought :)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
