Bloody nose?

Grendel, my school's Beardie, seems to have dried blood up his nostrils. Many different students handle him daily, and it is very possible one of them injured him (the school has now lost all Grendel privileges for now). His nostrils look a different shape than usual as well. He is a few years old. He has been showing signs of a stressed beardie, his tail is black, he has stress marks on his belly, and his beard is black.
Also, he is usually a sweetheart and very non aggressive boy. And today, when I picked him up to take pictures of his nose for this website, he turned and tried to bite me. (thankfully, when he went to bite he went tongue first and got my taste and realized it was me.) Anyways, here are some pictures. Does anyone have any idea how I would go about cleaning his nostrils, without hurting him any further?

I wish I could have taken a picture of his nose even more up close. "/

Hello,

That does appear to be dried blood in the nostrils. Maybe they tried to poke something into the nose? I certainly hope that he was not dropped & had a snout type of injury or a head injury. Though, he doesn't look like he has a head injury, but could have some other type of internal injury.
The chronic black beard, & black tail are definite indicators he is not feeling well & could be in some pain.
Are you housing him at home now?
Are you using a UVB light & if so, what type & brand of light is it? A fluorescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light?
Is he eating anything right now?

I am a student, so I can't take him home. As much as I would like to. He is still in school, I don't know what kind of lights he has. I will ask my teacher, except he is not in school today. lol. I think he is eating well, but I am not sure. Like I said, I need to talk to my teacher. I will offer Grendel a super worm in a little while when I get back in that classroom. Grendel is also glass dancing A LOT more than usual. This could be contributed to the change of seasons, but still, just thought it would be worth mentioning. It is very possible someone tried to put something up his nose, it is also possible someone tried to pick his nose. I will tell you that this school is a Special Education school, and there are some Autistic kids here. No one has confessed yet, but I put a sign up on his tank saying that once someone tells us what happened to him. It is very possible that whoever did it, didn't really know it was wrong. Is there anyway to clean out his nose?

Hello,

Oh I see, you are a student. Hm, well that is rough then that you can't take him home.
Cleaning his nose out will be a challenge. You could give him a bath, that could possibly loosen it if there is some humidity around him. Otherwise, there really isn't anything you can do as you don't want to poke something into his nose which could injure his delicate nostrils.
He will eventually shed it out, hopefully. If someone did try to pick the skin on his nose I do not think that would yield that much blood.
Banging on the glass could damage his nose, but looking at the picture it doesn't appear that he has snout damage. He needs to be placed somewhere out of heavy traffic if kids are not adhering to rules with him. Is the teacher seeking vet care?

I am a classmate of Kaylas, so I have pretty much the same info about the situation as Kayla. Since Grendel is an adult beardie, it will be a while before he sheds, and as such, Kayla and I don't think it's a good idea to wait for him to shed, since that could be quite a few months. To my knowledge, no one has dropped him recently, so that could not be the cause of the issue.

Hello,

How is Grendal doing?
Well, there are only so many things that could cause blood in the nostrils. If he has not been dropped, then someone must have picked the skin on the inside of his nose or he has internal bleeding of some sort due to health problems, etc.
Please keep us posted on him.

haha. hi lindsay! :p

Grendel seems to be doing fine, his nose is still filled though. I am thinking of maybe cleaning it with a wet q-tip, gently of course.

I will keep you posted!

Hello,

That is good Grendel seems to be doing well right now.
You can use a q-tip to try & clean the nose out, or you could roll up some kleenex or toilet paper to gently see if you could clean some of that out.
Is he eating also?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
