We were out in the garden today, me trying to weed and Izzy trying to sample the local flora and fauna when I realized something. He has clear nails. . . . Yeah. . I've had him for over a year, it's kind of embarrassing actually.
Anyway I remembered that clear nails was supposed to be some type of morph so I go looking and end up far more confused then I really care to be. :|
I got him from a local pet shop so I've never much thought of his morph besides him being of a red phase. I can tell you that he does not have black eyes and all his nails remind me of my cats, no dark colors with the vein visible.
Is my boy just an oddball? or does anyone think he has some of that morph in him?

A hypomelanistic dragon is one that has clear nails and lighter or hypomelanistic colors...
They can be red/orange/citrus etc...commonly called a "Hypo" and many pet stores will tell you they have "Hypos" and the dragons have dark nails, those are normal phase with extra color.

Technically, from what Barry at Bloodbank told me is that it isn't a true hypo unless all the nails are clear.

A regular phase has dark nails and the normal browns and they can have some oranges or reds on them also.

A translucent has almost see through skin and dark eyes and they can have the brighter colors like red/orange and citrus.

i believe that if he has a few clear nails but not all then he is het for hypo. so a part of his offspring will be hypo with clear nails. or this is what i got of of a similar explanation.

This is an old picture so hes grown a bit but you can definitely see his color. I'd post one of his nails but my camera is MIA .

wow nice colours! i would have to say he is possible het for hypo. what pet store had a nice looking dragon like that? :shock: we only have the normals at the stores i go to save for daves dragons he deals with citrus morphs.
