Does anyone have a blind dragon?? My oldest dragon lost his eye when he was little (before I got him) and now he won't/can't open his other eye. I have taken hime to the vet numerous times and he says there is no injury or infection. he thinks he may have something neurological and so he can't open the eye.

what TYPE and BRAND of UVB do you use? Some brands are notorious for causing eye problems?

i was using the bad kind I had found out...I did go and buy the good kind and he has been under that for a week or so...(maybe a little longer).. So maybe I just need to give him more time?? I had written on here when he first started to not open his eye and found out I was using the incorrect UBV -- I have since corrected it....

Yeah, I'd give him more time. I think you can drip saline into his eye to help, but wait until someone else says so before you do it (I'm not positive)

Hello,

Which UVB light did you use previously & how close was it to him? Which UVB are you using now?
Did you give any time without any UVB use in between the first & second light?
His eye may need some rest time from UVB to recover, as it can take a few weeks sometimes. Yes, you can use some saline solution eye wash to help with his eye right now. Does it appear swollen?

I had the Powersun and it was at about 14" from him...I am using the sun glo right now until I can order the t rex... Should be able to do that tomorrow..No swelling and the vet has put him under 2 times and opened his eye. He said that his eye looks good on the inside and there is nothing in there irritating it and no signs of infection. It has not seemed to bother him in that he still walks around and I can hand feed him - his appetite is still good and his poo is fine too. He didn't have anytime between bulbs, as when I read about the powersun bulb I called my son and had him turn it off. He then switched bulbs.. The temperature here is finally nice and we were going to take the dragons outside for the next few days.. I can turn off his bulb for now. Saline solution is like what I use for my contacts??

Hello,

Oh did you have the Powersun 100 watt MVB? If so, well, it is possible that it was one of the bad ones that have been causing some eye problems. Let me know if you had the 100 watt. When did you purchase it, & what did the front of the box look like?
You can use a saline eye wash. The solution to wash you contacts out might have chemicals in it, so I would check the label. If it is purified water & a salt solution with the proper ph it should be fine, but it needs to be more along the lines of an eye wash saline solution.

His appetite is ok, I hand feed him...He's had some lettuce fruit.. He wanders around (tries to climb) He took a bath last night and drank water (hes my only beardie that loves to drink the water). When I am home from work I take him out of his cage so he can get some climbing in. I have remove stuff from his cage so he dosen't fall onto his back and get stuck or something like that. Other than not being able to open his eye everything seems normal. He dosen't have a black beard or stress marks.

When you say he's had some "lettuce fruit" I assume you mean lettuce and fruit? If so, I would swap out the lettuce (which has almost no nutritional value) for collard, dandelion, mustard, or turnip greens or other veggies on this list.

My computer crashed on Friday morning and I just got it back up....When I said lettuce fruit, I did mean both lettuce and fruit. Sorry I wasn't more specific -- I was in a hurry...His salad is mustard greens and Kale...and the fruit varies but right now it is cantelope and pears...Mixed vegies tomorrow... Eye is still not open but everything else still seems good. appetite and poo...and he drinks water daily...

update -- still not opening his eye at all.. I will try to get a picture (all I have is a cell phone)everything else is going ok...
