Blind Leopard Gecko.

Hey so I have a Leopard Gecko, and she's blind.
I've come across a vibrating food dish by Exo-Terra..
Does anyone know if it's any good, and if it will help my gecko?

She can't see or catch live food, even when trying to hand feed her..
The vet had no other suggestions but hand feeding or force feeding. I've tried force feeding, but it's too much stress for my poor Spyro

Will she take liquid off of her nose? Could you make a sort of slurry and feed her with an eye dropper?

She used to lick from her nose, but she doesn't anymore D: which is why I haven't tried Slurry yet :l

And what goes into a slurry? (I've never had/made one).

I've read up reviews on the vibrating dish, and it's equal in terms of people liking it and people hating it :l
The vet was telling me that there's a possibility that she'll have to be put down if her condition worsens. ( Enigma Syndrome)

Oh no! I don't know for sure, but I would just "liquefy" phoenix and other soft worms with repshy calcium/vitamin powder. Maybe beef baby food? Maybe if there was a flavor she'd try to lick again? She would be able to hear the dish vibrate but she still wouldn't know what it meant Keep us updated. :wink:

Okay, she likes chicken and vegetable baby food, but I heard that they're only allowed certain flavours?
I'll also try the slurry.
Then if none of that works, I'll try the dish..

Then I'll head back to the vets..

I've been to the vet this morning (a different vet place) and they told me they reckon she's at stage 3 of enigma syndrome.. :/ They said as she gets older it will progressively get worse until the kindest thing to do is euthanize..

She said there's not really anything I can do.. I said about the slurrie's and baby food, but she just said "It will prolong her life, but she will still suffer and have no quality of life."

I want to continue looking after her, and caring for her every need.. I love her to bits.. I don't know what to do..

If Spyro is eating, messing and active then I would continue the care. If not, I would soul search.

She's still active, but she needs me to feed her. I think she has a few years left in her.. I'm going to do my best to make her life the happiest and most comfortable it can be.

It's a lot better than the pet shop she came from, bless her..

She's very lucky to have you. Myah (my BD) was my first reptile. Then brumation sent me for a loop and I wanted another to love while she sleeps. Mylo (my Leo) is dear and sweet and amazingly calm for a babe. I love him just as much. I feel like I'll always have a BD and a Leo
