Blimps are SCARY

So, Hiu and I are in the middle of a week-long babysitting gig, only about an hour away from home. He actually seems to be enjoying the trip. He loves crawling around the couch and hiding under the recliners (which I checked, they have plenty of space between his head and the mechanics of the chair).
The family I'm helping out has a small backyard, and I've been having lots of time on my hands (it's only the one child, and she is fairly self sufficient, the parents just don't want her to be alone all day). So, of course, I take advantage of the combined enclosed space and the summer sunshine to take my beardie out to get some natural light.

My little herp derp was patrolling the grass, sitting on my leg, licking leaves, and doing beardie things all bright and happy, when a loud noise started to approach.
He has heard and seen planes before, they interest him. He'll cock his head and look at them.
However, this nose was much louder, and the blimp was flying much closer than a plane would.
The poor thing squished himself to the ground, and slowly, carefully, still looking up at the sky, crept over to me, and slowly propped himself up on me like this:

I felt bad that he was scared, and I was talking to him and petting him throughout (I didn't pick him up as I wasn't sure if that would cause him more stress). But the fact that he chose to come up to me for safety made my heart melt!
He knows mama will protect him from all the scary blimps out there~ <3

Anyways, I didn't take him inside right away, because 1: again, I didn't know if doing so while the blimp was still over head would cause him more stress, and 2: I wanted to see if he would come down and brighten up again once it left. After a couple of minutes of the blimp being gone and him staying dark, then I took him inside, and we had several minutes of snuggles.

P.S.
Here's his smug mug after he managed to get THREE wasps out of thin air, the little stinker. I didn't even see them!

I was worried I'd see his tongue start swelling once I realized what was in his mouth, but it seems he nabbed them too fast for them to react.

I can imagine that a blimp would be pretty terrifying! How often do you see those flying around though. Pretty rare sight even for us. My guys are terrified of the hospital helicopters that are always coming and going over our house.

My guy has taken out a hornet too. They seem to be too quick to get stung (based on limited samples I've seen and read about) which is pretty amazing. I don't encourage them to go after stinging bugs though. Not worth the risk even with a good success rate.

We don't get blimps where I live, so this was a first for him.
ANd yeah, I don't usually approve of him eating things that are outside (I stopped him from trying to grab a snail as big as his head earlier today), but I'm not sure there's much I can do once it's in his mouth that won't make the situation worse, especially with how little experience I've had.
He does tend to push things out of his mouth with his tongue if he finds he can't eat it, like with crumbs on the floor. It's kind of funny to watch, though I'd rather he not get them in his mouth in the first place!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
