Bleeding tail tip

Hi there again,
I had some retain shed problems with the end of the tail inch and quarter. The tissue became dead to the tip. She's a silkback bearded dragon. Everything I done lately has helped with the shedding. But today I feed her and walked away for a while. Within that time inch of the tip of the tail fell off. Had a half inch white wormy bloody part to the new end of tail. Everything is covered with blood. I used a knee bandage to cover it with triple antibiotic ointment and used paper towel piece to cover it. Am hopeing it will stop bleeding during sleep tonite. I pitched it will a while with paper towel not hard just for the bleeding. Any suggestions let me know. How have members dealer with healing broken tail tips. Blazey girl will thank you has to hurt with what it looks like. I got blood on my hands and with that am stuck with what is best to do.

Poor girl And poor you! Having an unwell dragon is super stressful :/
Have you tried styptic powder to stop the bleeding? That's the only idea I have at the moment, besides maybe soaking her tail tip in a weak Betadine solution. Good thinking on the antibiotic ointment

Thank you for your comments and very stressful seeing your beloved beardie bleeding so much. Never thought of the powder thanks would the stuff for dogs nails work I have that. I had it just in case when I did my beloved goldens nails. I couldn't find the betadine when the tail problem started. Thanks ill try the powder it's still bleeding but not as bad.

i had this problem with Geico after he caught his tail between his log and hide, then whipped it cause damage to his tail tip. If you have a syringe fill it with cold water and slowly drip it on the tail end, this will help cause the blood vessels to constrict slowing the bleeding, You do not want to apply a pinching pressure as you can cause more damage by cutting off the blood supply in the damaged area of the tail tip. Styptic powder thats used for dogs nails is fine. You want to get some betadine at the drug store or walmart and make a solution of it with warm water to make it look like weak tea and soak the tip in it for 15 to 20 mins. Do the soaking twice a day as the tail heals. Dont rinse the tail after the soaking but gently pat it dry, you dont want to keep it wet. Apply triple antibiotic to the tail tip < dont use the triple antibiotic with pain reliever in it> and let it stay exposed to the air. I wrapped Geico's basking log in a hand towel so it was soft and he couldnt snag the damaged tip on his log. keep his floor as clean as possible to help prevent infection/ if the tail tip starts to turn red and hot, then darkens your beardie needs a vet as tail rot from the injury can set in. Watch the tail closely especially the underside for any darkening or infection creeping up the tail..if this happens he will need a vet. hope this helps. Also if he bled a lot, keep him hydrated, blood loss can cause dehydration so soaking in a bath of warm water will help.
