Blanket or no Blanket?

I've seen several viv's here with a blanket available for the beardie's use. I'd like to get a general consensus on how common this is and if the beardie actually uses/enjoys it. I'm still in the process of setting up my enclosure and don't know if I should offer a blanket or not. So, do you offer a blanket? Are there pros or cons of doing this?

I offer an old Tshirt at night. Pros- she loves it and sleeps better. I can turn on the lamp in my room without getting the "stink-eye". Cons- occasionally it gets pooped on and seomtimes she does not want to leave the blankie in the morning. Taking it out during the day takes care of both, though. I actually wrap her up in it when I'm home, otherwise I just leave it there for her to curl up in, sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't.

Yup I use ether an old tee shirt folded in half or a fleece blanket cut into squares and they love it. Their is some where on here that makes them and can even embroid it with your beardies name. :D

I agree with the above. He doesn't use it during the day but loves it at night. You've all seen my *fake trademark* sponge thingy. I put him on that, then wrap the whole thing with an old t shirt.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm having a bit of an odd transition because I had owned ferrets a few years ago and thought that beardies would be a complete opposite. I'm finding out more and more that they really are pretty similar though! Between shirts and blankets I always had tons of fabrics in the ferret's cage. I never would've thought a beardie would enjoy it as much. I guess I'll have to find a special blankie just for my beardie's personal use and enjoyment. :)

Sometimes what helps is when transitioning a new beardie to you is to use a dirty stinky t shirt and wrap them in that. Then they get used to you and your scent.

Sorry guys. Think that there was some misunderstanding on how I posted my message. The transition that I was referring to is the difference between caring for a ferret and caring for a beardie. I have several years of ferret experience, but not a single day of beardie experience yet as I haven't gotten one. I'm still in the planning and learning phase before bringing one home. I'm hoping within the next couple of weeks I'll have a little boy to show off. And, oh yes there will be TONS of pictures when I get him home!! :D

Can't wait for the pics! I just started using an old towel, Kana loves to snuggle in it, Nox loves to run out of it, and Oz just really doesn't care that much right now.

I choose to use a blanky because my beardie would always find a way underneathe the paper towel substrate to sleep at nite. This way i know hes more comfy, and its a great way to help him retain his own body heat for as long as possible during the nights cooler temps.

Now, do you actually cover them up or do you just lay it in there for them?

OK, after seeing those awesome pics I'm DEFINITELY going to get a blanket my beardie. Next time I go to Walmart I'll take a stroll down the baby aisle to get a nice soft fleece one. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
