black throat

I am the mom of 2 female beardie that are about 1 1/2 years old. One of them lately has been acting " stressed" .She walks up and down the cage. Also, the underside of her throat takes on a black color. Ill get her out and let her burn off energy the black seems to get better. I have them in a 40 breeder glass terrarium habitat with lots of things to climb on and under. Any ideas I can Get to help her would be great.

Possibly looking to lay eggs ? You can check the breeding forum , at the very top there;s a sticky about what to do if your dragon is going to lay eggs. Of course, it could be a number of things....can you post a pic ? Anything changed lately in her diet or environment ? Is she hydrated ?

Can they lay eggs when no male around? I will see if I cam figure out how to post a pic. No change in diet. I feed them great crickets from a breeder and both beardies get the same salad and crickets.

Yes, females can lay infertile eggs, without a male present.

Some females will lay a lot of infertile eggs with no male around. You need to make her an egg box to dig in and lay the eggs. Not being able to dig to have the eggs can stress her, and the eggs can continue to grow until she becomes egg bound. So I would definitely make up the box for her, just in case this is the issue.
