Hello, well i feel like a panicker, but i thought id post this as its got me worried. Last week i noticed one of gizmos scales above the eye was darker than the rest, i have kept an eye on it, even got a baby toothbrush to see if was just dirt, but im worried it may be more sinister!

The pics cant really get close enough, but it looks like one or two scales have dried up and gone darker, but not necrosis?

Any thoughts? and if it is fungus, how can i treat it, or would it mean antifungals from the vet?
She hasnt been eating for the past two weeks so her immne system is a bit low i think. She has also been trying to shed the past few weeks, its all gone milky round her chops but hasnt loosened yet.

Awh i am sorry your baby is not doing well. The area around her mouth does not look normal. Make sure she stays hydrated, give her a bath everyday in luke warm water up to her elbowsa for 20 minutes. Also try feeding her veggie and chicken babyfood. I am BUMPing your post. A mod will respond soon.

Thank you, yes she is trying to shed that area, so it looks a little weird!

Hello,

That is a normal looking shed area around her mouth so no worries about that.
The black scale looks somewhat like a damaged scale. Did he possibly hit himself or scratch that area on something? I do not think that it is fungal, but, just to be sure, I would use a dab of betadine on it to clean it.
I would hesitate to use an antifungal cream on that area to avoid getting it into his eye. You could get some silver oxide cream (same type of stuff as thermazene or silvadene), only you can buy it at the drug stores now I believe. That would be relatively safe to dab a small amount on that area in case it is fungal, or just damaged. It is a great healing agent.

Thank you, she may have damaged it while she has been climbing all over the place. She has now started shedding all around her eye so i will see how it looks after. Will diluted iodine work? its all i have at the min.

Thank you

Hello!

Yes diluted iodine is fine, it is just a disinfectant. Perhaps she did just scratch up her scales a little bit. It looks like one of ours who battered his up a little above his eye on his eye brow area. It took a shed & then looked alot better.
Let me know how she fares after her shed, maybe it will shed off. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
