I found this disclouration on my 2.5 year old girl's stomach a couple of days ago... now I'm also noticing something on the pad of her foot and possibly a bit on her tail. I've looked at PAGES of photos of yellow fungus and open infections and this doesn't look similar (to me... but I'm hardly an expert.).

Today and yesterday she's been staying on her cool side, in her hide... she's normally up before we are, waiting for the "sun" to come out. Not sure if this behaviour is related or if she's just being fussy.

Can anyone help shed some light on what this might be and how to treat it? I will gladly take her to the vet, but I'll be out of town all week and won't be able to take her until next week. :(

Hello
I first want to ask you a bit of a silly question but it is something I would like to verify.Did you bathe her to see of the area would clean off?You could even gently scrub it with a soft toothbrush because it is possible that it is simply dried fecal matter rather then fungus. If you have done that and it did not come off then I do recommend a vet visit but in the mean time you can start treating as if it were fungal at home. You will need to get a few things: Betadine, witch hazel and lamasil cream(human meds), all of these can be found at your local pharmacy.
You will first want to clean the area with witch hazel =,then one that is done you are going to bathe her in a diluted betadine bath. You runn warm water put her in first so she can drink if she wants then you will want to add the betadine until the bath itself is the color of a weak tea.She will need to soak for 20 minutes, once that is done you can dry her off and apply the lamisil cream to the affected areas. This procedure should be done daily and if it is indeed fungal it should resolve the situation. It does not look like yellow fungus at all but either way the treatment will be the same until you can get her to the vet.

I have seen my beardies look similar to that if they have pooped and layed on it or walk thru it. (at least the stomach part, I cant really tell what the foot part is)
Also, I do not have a picture right now, but sometimes one of my beardies will shed his stomach in parts, and after some parts have shed, and others are getting ready to shed, the part getting ready to shed can look similar to that.
But those are just 2 thoughts that I had.

She hasn't had a shed yet this year... Her temps on her bask are within the 100-110 range, so maybe this shed is just taking longer than usual?

I've tried rubbing the area when giving her a bath... nothing seems to come off, so I don't think it's poop. I'll try with a soft toothbrush during her bath tomorrow. I'm going to go to the drugstore tomorrow morning and pick up the betadine and lamasil and witch hazel - we'll see how that goes.

It's a large, strange shaped area, so I thought it could be poop or even a burn, but I've never seen her temps go above 112 (on a HOT day), so I can't see how that could happen. :banghead:

It does not look like burn to me but just to verify you are measuring the SURFACE temp with a probe or infared therm, right?

Sorry, yeah... I'm using a PE2 temperature gun.

So... got the betadine and the witch hazel today.

Lamasil is NOT available in Canada without a prescription. Went to 2 different pharmacies to confirm.

Are there any recommended alternatives? One pharmacist suggested Monistat/Canesten, but didn't want to sell it to me before I checked with my online experts.

Ok good start. The generic name for Lamisil is Terbinafine hydrochloride, possible you can see if there is a Canadian equivalent? I would not recommend the Monistat although Canasten may actually be fine but let me check on that as it is a different anti fungal then the Lamisil. Will post in a bit.

Ok I stand corrected go ahead with the Monistat if you cannot find the Terbinafine hydrochloride as it would be effective as well.

The darkness has turned into a lighter colour... almost looks like she's ready to have a shed. I have to wonder if somehow her basking temperature got TOO hot, maybe on a really hot day last week.. and somehow she got burnt.

I'll get a photo and upload it tonight. She seems ok, had a healthy poop yesterday, and doesn't seem to be in any discomfort. *crosses fingers*

I'll keep you posted! Thanks so much for the follow up... I'll be watching her temps VERY carefully...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
