Hey all thank you for taking the time. I know I will have to invest in a CHE but currently I can't afford that and the last couple nights it's been slipping into low 60s and rigs has been extremely dark in the morning so I think he was a little stressed. I used to use the black light before I read up because that is what the pet store said, I know they can't be trusted but I figured I should ask around! Thanks soooo much for all your help!!

CHE is best because it will keep them sleeping in darkness, which they require. Bearded dragons do see color in the ultraviolet range.

You can use the blacklight for heat, just put a towel or small blanket over him while he sleeps that is dark enough to block out any light. :D As long as he can't see the light, and he is kept warm, he will be fine.

Oh thank you he just sleeps on his blanket now but I can put it over him after he is sleeping that might help, should I move him under it even if he moves out from under it? or will he just choose what makes him most comfortable and I should let him be?

How big is his tank? The blacklight radiates heat and will heat a small viv, so you wouldn't need to move him, but if it is a big tank you will need to get him underneath it. Is the fixture stuck in the same place, or can you physically move it over?

Its a pretty small viv, (we just dug the bigger one out of storage!) so it is plenty hot even on the other side of the tank, but he tends to move right under the light. What I was asking about moving him was if after I put him under his blanket if he moves out should I cover him again or does he maybe just like the light? like some moon light lol

I don't see it possible that he would move out from under the blanket to seek the light, just considering what I know of their behavior. It would be more likely he was moving out from under the blanket. I do have a few young dragons that don't want to sleep under a blanket. lol

Also is this normal he will always fall asleep like this with his belly pressed up against the glass standing on his hind legs.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
