Black crust beneath the eye

My bearded dragon has had this for a while now on his right eye, it is black crusty substance beneath his eye that he rubs off normally. It’s not been here for some time and i tried to move it a bit to see if it would could off but it almost looks like raw skin underneath (flesh like colour). One thing to mention is that he does not eat veggies... he’s 6 and he just won’t. He only eats if i shove it right up to his face and it takes time.. howeve with insects he’s fine. He just walks all over his greens like they’re not even there?! He used to love his green watercress. Now i’m not sure if this connotes to the black crust under his eye but if I could get some veggie feeding tips that would be great aswell. He’s a very active beardie and has been acting fine. I’ve seen no difference in how he’s been acting. He has also just come out of brumation so he was just laying around for a while, could this mean anything? Could it be shed? I just need some answers, I feel like the vets might be the best answer at this rate.

It sounds like maybe a cut or scab. Can you post some photos? You can upload photos here https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ and post them to your thread using the XIMG button when you reply.

As far as veges go, sometimes you just have to hold off feeding bugs and get them hungry then they start to go after the veges. Keep rotating what you offer based on what looks fresh at the store and hopefully you'll discover some favorites. My guy loves squash of all kinds. I cut it up into worm shapes and add them to his salad and hand feed to add some motion which works well.

not the best image I have as he’s asleep right now but I hope this kinda gives some guidance:) He does scratch his eye here and then with his sharp claws so it could be.

Try this ----- feed salad first thing in the morning--- get a glass bowl that bugs and insects cant get out of-- then get some BSFL from here www.symtonbsf.com order large as they are small - they are a great staple feeder - you can also use some super worms 1-3 put these on top of his salad add as many BSFL as you want and dont dust them -- they are calcium enriched - do this in front of him so it lures him to the bowl--- show make him follow your hand - let him eat from that bowl for like an hr or so then add your staple feeder -- dubia roaches work best - you can take some of the salad out but leave some in so when he goes to eat the bugs he will get veggies too --- you can use butter worms and hornworms and waxworms for lures - use sparingly they will get hooked on the worms --- you can order from here for all of the above for worms www.dubiaroaches.com --
here is a website for nutrition
http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html -- mix his greens up - I usually use combo of collard / turnip greens then switch off to kale and collard or whatever ---- squash is good too -- try that and see if that helps

His eye does look a little swollen and crusty. I wonder if he has an infection of some sort. A vet visit might be a good idea to have it tested out. Some Terramycin eye ointment may help but it's best to test the area first to know what you're dealing with.

Hi there, could you get a closer up image of the eye?

For now you can try some saline rinses on the eye to flush out any crusties or junk that might be irritating it any further.
Do you use any loose substrate in your tank? If you do it would be best to get rid of it for the time being until the eye heals up.

At 6 years old he's just stubborn. Cut out the feeders for a bit and only offer salads. He will eat them eventually.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
