im just worried about the lights heating up the black surface but hell that may actually be a good thing. i dont think 24''s down it will make it hot enough to burn... any thoughts

IMO it will affect the heating...but then again it depends on wattage, Id prob go with a 60w and see what that does for your temp..I mean as long as you have monitors you can always manipulate the temps..Good looking viv, Id personally go with white or sky blue due to the temps...but thats a very good looking display. Good luck and let us know how it all pans out.

Thats a sweet setup I really like the black, how much did it cost to make, if you don't mine me asking? I would think it will affect the heat but like they said just use a lower wattage bulb.

thanks! its just gettin started i still have to put the screens on and buy the lighting fixtures... but at the stage you see now its only like 50-60 bucks. but the real money comes in when you have to buy the plexiglass or real glass. that by itself will hit 80$. theres still about 110 bucks left to go. and then i have to buy the reptisun and the basking bulb. but i plan on using a lowes halogen spot so it should be pretty cheap. but i mean heck the black on the inside might be good because in their natural home of Australia the ground is gonna be warm as well as the air temp. so maybe thats actually a plus.

I agree that it may affect temps but I have to say it looks great. I would just use a lighter color tile on the floor that way the floor doesn't get to hot

i have found it at menards. 26$ for a 4x6ft piece. or 30$ for a 4x8 piece. if your doing a 4x2x2 viv, you need the 4x8 piece. that will be enough for top, bottom, back, and even sides. they have like 30-40 different colors of melamine at menards! most of it is special order, but ours keeps the black in stock. very professional looking! we also get the round vents at menards as well.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
