Black beard

Hi, I got my first bearded dragon 5 days ago, female, 3 years old. I've just gone to her viv and noticed her bearded is black, she then puffed it out before it returned to its normal colour. I've looked it up on the internet but the ones I've read say its males doing this. Is this normal behaviour. Could I also ask while I'm here, she hasnt been the toilet since mid afternoon yesterday, is that normal or is that connected to the black beard? Any help would be appreciated..

Females can also puff their beards out. They tend to do it when they aren't in such happy moods.

Beardies should poo every day. Mine has missed a day once or twice and went the following day. Don't worry at the minute, just keep an eye on her. If she doesn't poo tomorrow, give her a warm bath and massage her belly gently- this sometimes helps

warm baths have always helped out my beardie with going to the bathroom. If i am ever worried that he hasnt gone yet, i just give him a bath and within a hour or so he goes.

No need for the bath, her body sorted itself out and she's just left me a present twice as big as normal, no wonder she was grumpy yesterday. Must have been very uncomfortable. Thanks again for all your help
