Background:
I took Caesar to the Vet 4 days ago to get a general exam and fecal testing because he was showing signs of brumation. He came back positive for pinworms and very strongly for coccidia. Other than that, the vet said he seemed to be very healthy and happy and I was taking good care of him, and that he was not brumating, but just upset from the parasites.
I gave him his first antibiotics 3 days ago. He put up a fuss and did not want to cooperate. After a while, I was able to get him to take his first dose. His beard turned the blackest I've ever seen it.
We struggle every morning and night to get his antibiotics in him, and I really do hate upsetting him.
His beard has never gone back to "normal" and he is not eating as much. He has never had a beard this black before (and especially for this long!). He still seems playful when taken out of his viv and enjoys being held but the beard stays black. He hasn't eaten his veggies in a few days and I've only seen him eat 5 crickets or so. Nothing else in his environment has changed. I have his viv set up with the correct temperatures and lighting. (At least as to what everyone on this site has said)
Will his beard go back to normal? He seems upset from the medication, but wouldn't his beard go back to normal in a few hours? I can't see any other reason as to why he would be uncomfortable.
