Biting

Something odd happened last night. Arwyn bit me. I was trying to get her out for our nightly snuggling before bed time and I had to kinda chase her again and she jumped over and bit my finger. It didn't hurt anything but my feelings. After I got her out she was fine like normal. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with biting?

Only time one of my dragons ever bit me was when my female had been scared to the point of pancaking and bearding from being outside. I brought her inside and I was attempting to calm her down, running my thumb near her mouth. That is when she had bit me. I do not feel she did it out of anything other then being scared. If we think about it, what would a scared cornered cat do if you try to pet it? I would make this same relation in almost any animal or pet. Possibly your dragon was scared since you were chasing it about it's enclosure, maybe it felt there wasn't an escape so it did the next best thing, in it's mind, defense.? Just a thought, if it happens again there my be a issue at hand but, I wouldn't say my female dragon has an issue as she has never bitten me since this occasion. :wink:

She has been acting like she would bite me for the last few days, I've decided that her attitude has been due to her shedding her tail. I got her out last night and placed my hand in front of her and she opened her mouth like she was going to bite. I slowly slid my fingers under her and pushed her mouth closed with the tip of my thumb. I picked her up and played with her for a few minutes then she got on my chest to cuddle and go to sleep.

I also think that I need to build a viv instead of using a tank for one. the getting her out from the top could be some of it also. If I had doors on the front I think it would help.

IMO , she was scared
