My beardie ,Holly, bit me and drew blood. It was TOTALLY my own fault. I was trying to shake some roaches off my hand into her tank and she was hungry and went for a roach on my finger and got me and the roach. :? I washed the bite and put on a bandaid. The area is red, swollen and painful. Should I go to the doctor? Can I get salmonella from her biting me?

Hi there....you can definitely develop an infection of some type. To be safe you may want to have it checked, especially if it's swelling + red.

I'd definitely have it checked if you haven't had a tetanus booster in the last 5 years and it's red and swollen. Mort bit me a few weeks ago (also totally my fault) but only barely broke skin. I cleaned it well with antibacterial but it didn't go red or anything. Since I've had a booster I didn't worry and it was hardly visible the next day.

I had a tetanus booster last year. It is still red but the swelling is a little less.
