Birthday Cake for Beardies??

Gryphon's birthday is coming up... My little man will be 3 years old! and, being the beardie slave i am, he gets a party every year. Before, we would usually get a 6 pack of cupcakes for the human attendees of the fiesta and he would lick a little icing from my finger. I know I know, it's bad. But it only happens 1x a year, so it can't hurt.

This year, however, i want to make (or buy) him a cake that he can eat. I keep seeing all these cute ideas for cupcakes and things but i'm afraid to give him anything other than plain vanilla bc i'm sure chocolate or spices are really dangerous to feed in any quantity. I was thinking maybe there would be some kind of cake i could make out of fruit and veggies or something, or if anyone has suggestions of a type of cake i could buy. Wasn't sure if anyone else had tried their luck with this, kind of like homemade dog treats but for a beardie.

What about taking a banana and slicing it so that it makes round pieces...Maybe 1 piece about 1/2 inch tall and putting a blueberry on top of it? That would be his own personal birthday cake. Every one else at the party could have a personal banana cake too, along with their cupcake.

or you could smush some Dragon bites together in the shape of a cake, but don't expect any of the human party goers to want a piece of that cake... :lol: I think the banana cakes would be best for everyone! :lol: You could even put raspberries instead of blueberries, or maybe a small piece of mango or other fruit.

Or a banana worm split a bananna split in half filled with 2 different type of worms and some veggies

some butter worms would make that banana worm split so nice! That is a great idea! I love butter worms and how they smell, and on top of that, they are pretty colored and would look good on bananas!

Thanks for all the ideas, everyone! I really like the idea of the banana worm split! That's so cute! I'm also going to experiment with fruit "cakes". Maybe mashing some fruit together and using a cookie cutter for shaping? IDK.. Keep 'em coming! I love the creativity!

You could mash up some greens and make a paste and get some bearded dragon pellets and mash them up to make powder and mix it in and then use cookie cutters to make little treats. What I do is they get all the expensive foods like butterworms and hornworms and roaches and they have a little thanksgiving

Hmmm... well, I manage a cupcake bakery for a living so this is a fun challenge! I'm not 100% positive, but I think dragons can consume gelatin. Can anyone confirm this? If not then some other gelling agent like pectin or agar agar. Do NOT feed your dragon these things without researching - I'm just conjecturing here. Anyway, I thought you could maybe mix fruit & veggie babyfood with it plus some little chunks of dried or fresh fruit mixed in & then put it in a cute mold and let it set! I have a mini bundt pan mold (like a bundt cake but the size of cupcakes) that would be perfect for a dragon cake. You could even stick a candle on it! Instead of icing you could decorate with dragon-friendly herbs like basil, mint leaves, etc. If you pick the right mix of palatable baby foods, then people would probably eat this as well... personal jello molds!
