At this moment after a long search for mail order bugs I am bursting with love for Stuart. I shall brag.
He is a citrus-ie leucistic cross and I got him from a friend. He quickly showed signs of MBD but it wasn't until after I got that all taken care of that we bonded. I was telling a neighbor about our story last night when she expressed how cool and collected he was.
He was about 7" and tho I hadn't really held him a whole lot I did hand feed him daily and had gotten into the habit of giving him floor time each day while my toddler was napping. I knew he LOVED green beans. We were both on the floor across the room from each other when he spotted the gb in my hand lowered to the floor. He booked it to me and devoured it.
It was then that I knew. This was fate or something like it. I've always had a "way" with animals. Reptiles are much different than mammals, but if you look hard and pay attention you can learn to communicate and be intimate with them. Close. He's my buddy now. He knows he's number one, as we recently became caregivers of 2 juvies. My daughter has learned how he behaves and the proper way to treat him. (one finger touching and you can't crowd or be rambuncious) I love watching Stuart regard her. He's interested in her. They hang out, she feeds him a cheerio now and then or a clover she grabbed with him in mind during her outdoor travels.
It's one of the most rewarding experiences of our life, to have him in it. That he should CHOOSE to be with us when he could so easily find a corner or sunny spot. It's just...I'm verklempt.
