Better to feed early or late?

Totally silly question, I know, but keep in mind I'm still pretty new at this... Have to be out tomorrow around Wave's normal evening feeding time. For those who have dealt with similar situations (and I assume it's happened to almost everyone!), what seems to work better to keep a hungry dragon happy - feed early, or wait until we get home (+ extra basking time to digest)?

Just wondering! I'll probably go with feeding early unless it's better for Wave's mental health to eat late. (I'm sure she won't mind an early dinner...!)

Just for reference: normal feedings around usually around 10AM and 4:30PM. Would probably need to feed before 3:00PM tomorrow if we go with early; we should be back between 7:30 and 8:00.

Cheers, guys! :D

I'd go with early, just because when my beardie knows it's bedtime he won't bask, even if the light's on. Just don't be surprised if he eats less, mine sometimes won't even touch feeders if it's not normal feeding time.

Thanks. :) Gut feeling was right, then - I'll try early. Nothing stops Wave eating (not relocation stress, not shedding...), so she'll probably still go for it.

The day has passed, but that's what we did, and it worked very well. Will be able to advise others myself next time. :) Thanks!

Hey, now, only one vote apiece! Otherwise, it's not a fair vote. Poor late deserves its chance, too! :laughing6:

I try to feed them 1 hr after the lights have turned on to give them a chance to warm up. Feeding early gives them all day to digest the food; this way the food is digested properly and thus, you'll have a strong bearded. This is very important if you feed them veggies because they are very hard to digest compared to live food and require all day to digest them properly. Hope this helps!

Early.

I find that if I run out of feeders and my delivery is late they tend not to eat as many.

They usually wake up about 6 am and then get fed at 8 am which then they spend the rest of the day cleaning up any stragglers, so that when I come home at night they are all gone.

But even at weekends when I sleep in I notice a change in feeding as they are fed a little later.

Beardies and eating is a strange and wonderful thing.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
