Betadine for mite treatment

i bought a new baby beardie about a week ago and have been very happy. She is very colorful and when i first got her i noticed a few red "scales" on her head. I thought it was so cute, until one moved haha. So i've researched and heard that Betadine is the best solution. Does anyone here know the best place to get this? i haven't seen it at any pet stores. I know that someone here sells medicine and flavored liquid calcium but i cant remember who it is. i was thinking about checking there now, does anyone know who this person is and how to get to their site? Thanks

Yes, the betadine is good to use for mites. Make sure when mixing the solution that you only put enough betadine in the water until it is the color of weak tea(light brown), you don't need very much. When your beardie is soaking in it, it should make the mites move upwards towards his head, where you can pick them off.

I believe you are thinking of Tracie(Drache613), who has a website. I don't think she sells betadine. You can pick up the betadine(povo-iodine) at any drug store.

yeah i actually realized that i didnt even search it on the web and just went and got some at a drug store yesterday. Its just a habit now since there's everything on this site. And yeah i think thats her. Thanks so much

well i tried soaking her in the solution today but i didnt see any of them move. Some did loosen up and were easier to remove but many are still there. Maybe they'll be dead in the morning, hopefully. Do you guys think that maybe my solution was too weak? the whole "color of weak tea" seems kinda broad.... especially since i never drink tea so how would i know haha :dontknow:

Sorry you were not able to remove many of the mites. You could also try a very soft toothbrush on your beardie while he is soaking to get the mites off.
Weak tea is a very light brown color. I also forgot to mention.. don't allow your beardie to drink the betadine solution.
Try the toothbrush and let us know how that works for you.

i have raised baby beardies from eggs and i've run into mites before ... i've tried betadine, but what i've found works the best is "Natural Chemistry reptile spray" i got it at a speacalty reptile store called The Tie dyed iguana. (i have sold my beardies offspring to them becouse they make shure that they go to good homes)
