My friend just bought a looks to be new hatchling maby 3 weeks old at the most and is 4" long at the most. The tank consist of a plastic tote with a 75 watt heating bulb and a wierd fixture with a small 4 tube florescent tubes that screw in, and crushed walnut shell. I think the heat is not up there but for arguments sake lets say that it is.
She has told me that the new berdie did not eat much wensday or thursday and that she had to force feed some super small roaches. And she has told me that since she got it (about a week ago) it has not pooped but its belly is not bloated and is worried. I think it may be impacted because of the walnut bedding but am not sure.
What I want to know is what do you think? And if it is impacted being so small is there anything we can mix up ie baby food+oil or stuff like that?

She needs to get him a nice warm bath, think baby warm, and up to his arm pits. Hope fully he will poop.

Now about the tank, walnut shell is extremely dangerous as not only do it make them impacted but it can cut up there insides, its very sharp.

When you say UVB tubes that screw in, are they coils or compacts? If so these are also very bad. She needs a tube, only the reptiSUN 10 is recommended really, others have been linked to health issues. One UVB that spans the tank id fine, too much UVB is just as dangerous as not enough.

heat is extremely important and should be measured acuritly, with a digital thermometer (one with a long wired probe). Babies need 105-110f (40-42c) and a cool end of about 75-80f.

He will prob be going through some relocation stress, but please tell her not to force feed him, esp solids. he may choke. Squash or chicken babyfood watered down a bit and dripped on his nose.

Ok I thanks when I go over there tonight I am going to take my extra repti sun 10.0 and my extra basking bulb and we are going to give him a good bath and I will make sure everything is good before I leave.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
