my Juvie beardie has been going to bed earlier and ealier. She used to go to bed at 9:30, now she down to 5:15 in a few weeks! Any ideas. My setup is pretty on par with what is recommended on this site, and I use a timer for the lights

Hm, when our dragon was doing this, it was because her set up wasn't "up to par" in particular, a trouble-making UVB light... so I'm not sure what would be causing it if it's not husbandry issues. Our dragon will sleep a bit more during a growth spurt, or before a shed so that might be something to consider. Usually, to bed early for a couple of days but then back to her usual hours.

How many hours are her lights on total? We're still using a 12/12 schedule while our beardie is a juvie and it works pretty well. Any longer than that and she tends to retire before light out...

How is her behavior otherwise? Eating habits, alertness, and such? Have you had a fecal done recently? That might be something to consider also, if only to rule out parasites.

The best,
Em

thanks for the reply Em. I just got a new light reptisun10.0 tube about 1 month ago. She is never very active. bulb is 6 inches away. Basking spot is 106, cool side 80. SHe eats pretty well. She has never been that active, I think thats cause she was riddled with parasites from the start! We have been treating her for parasites since we got her. She has gotton a lot better, but we are still running fecals every 6 weeks (2 more weeks till her next one). THis early to bed issue has been only recently. Lights on at 8 and off at 8. This usually signals her to go to bed, but she has begun to put herself to bed. SHe gets baths every 1 to 2 nights. SHe just went through a shed.

Has she been sleeping in late?

If she hasn't, maybe she stayed up too late one night, then only slept for a little while until lights went on, and has been trying to make up for that lost sleep. Have you tried giving her afternoon naps? Reggie used to go to bed at 6:00p.m. (or try to!) until I started giving him naps. I usually wrap him up in his warm fleece blankie, lay him on top of his plushie bunny, and lay next to him, doing homework or whatever, and he just dozes off. I'm always sure to provide food when he wakes up, though! :D

You are genious!!!!! I never realized this but that is exactly what my husband does daily! He goes to class in the evenings, and during the day he gets her out and she sleeps on his shoulder for awhile. BUt, recently he has been really busy and hasnt been getting her out. She hasnt been getting her naps! Ha! My neice and nephew used to do the same thing! Anyhow she went to bed last night at lights out. And, she finally got her sandbox which seemed to satisfy one SERIOUS digging itch! THanks for the help,

Krystal

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
