Brumation season FINALLY over! :blob5:

So my 2 adults have now decided that they will ONLY feed on Butterworms and Silkworms. :banghead:

Won't eat crickets, superworms, collard greens (with apple or grape juice), kale, or anything else I can think to offer them.

I'm not sure how it is worldwide, but in Canada, I'm paying out the nose for Butters and Silks... Hormworms, too if I can find them.

Can ANYONE help me figure out how to get them hungry for the cheaper stuff!?? They're 3 years old, SHOULD be eating tons of greens and fruity treats, and NOTHING. I considered letting them stew for a day or two without food, just to force them to get a bit more hungry - but I don't want to be cruel or get them upset - is there anything I can do?

----EDIT--- this should likely be in the "Feeding" forum, not the "Feeders". Sorry.

I had a dragon that decided waxworms were the only thing he'd eat. It took about 10 days, but he finally started eating insects again. That's correct. He went without food for 10 days. Stubborn.

I would say just be persistant and keep trying. Just introduce the food you want them to be eating and keep at it! don't give in  it might take some time, like the other poster has said.

Just like kids, if they get hungry enough, they'll eat what's available!

I figured that, but didn't want to STARVE them... I'm a big softie! :)

Call it tough love, we do the same with our kids and they crack when they get hungry. This is your dinner, either eat it or go hungry.

I agree... it's kind like a kid that will only eat candy. They only eat candy because that's all they are given. ;)

BDs are fairly lazy creatures, but when push comes to shove, I'm pretty sure they will get up and eat a cricket if they are hungry enough. Just be strong and give it some time.

My beardie did the same thing and after about a week of not eating he decided hey maybe these things aren't too bad. Just don't give in to them and they will come around eventually.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
