Beardies and Snakes

So my husband and I found a 125 gal tank. We plan to make it into at least two "homes" however we were thinking about making it into three "homes". Two for the beardies we hope to get and we were thinking one of our snakes, the oldest corn. 50/50/25 could this work? I have a post in DIY asking how to make it into more then one home so hopefully ideas will come from that. I cant see a reason why it would not work if the "homes" are sealed from one another. I dont think that my corn will be on a beardie's top to eat list (roughly 5 ft long) and I think the corn will be fine with it. If the plans are with plexi glass this can be marked up so the animals wont be able to see each other so stress levels should be low.

So could this work?

Thanks!

I don't really think thats long enough to house two adult beardies and a corn snake. Maybe enough for one beardie and one corn, but the absolute minimum you should house an adult in is 36'' long. For two adults you'd want at a minimum of 72 inches of length just for them two. An ideal length would be 42'' for each dragon, or 84'' plus room for your corn snake.

Honestly I would be more worried about the corn eating the dragons than the other way around. The corn would need 3 feet of space with belly heat, and each beardie would need at least 3 feet of length with overhead heat. Sounds like it would be impossible to give the correct gradients. Now you might be able to do turn it into two corn snake vivs or a really awesome cage for one beardie but I am not so sure how it would work for a combination considering also that corns need humidity and dragons should have little to none.

Hmmmm I did not think about the humidity that corns need and dragons dont. Good point. If a second shelf is built would that help clear up "floor" room enough that two dragons could be placed in it? Just trying to see what can be done to maximize the tank we will be getting to allow both my husband and I to have our own dragons.

You have 2 corns and2 beardies right? Well the large tank would make an amazing split tank for the corns really it would. What are your corns in now? 20 longs? Could you sell the 20s and get 2 40s and build a shelf to hold the 40s thus taking less floor space in the room? Mind that is if your corns are in 20s lol. If I were you I would deck out that big tank to spoil the corns because it would be so much easier. And either buy or build a stacked 2 cage system for the beardies. With their specific needs it can be hard to turn one tank into two for them I would think. But honestly I have more experience with corns than I do with Beardies. Good luck and do post pics when you figure it all out :)

One corn is in a 20long, my oldest. The other corn is still a baby and in a 10gal for now. I dont have any beardies as of now, learning first. We were thinking of having the beardies in the 125 because we want to have it in an area that we can show them off since they are much more active then my corns. The new place we will be moving to has a wall that will fit the 125gal perfect but I dont know how it would look if we have two tanks set up. Might have to see, we are getting the 125 gal and it will be used for something just not sure what since it seems that cohabbing is frowned upon with beardies as it is with corns.

We picked up the tank, 125 gal tank and metal stand for $140. Woot! Still not sure what we are going to do about it but we have also been talking about getting one vs two beardies due to the cost of set up, feeding, and vet care. So it might just end up becoming an amazing beardie home that becomes the center of our new home. Heres to hoping we dont get a "boring" beardie.

Don't worry, all beardies are fun! :)
It would be quite the home too! Would love to see some pictures of it when you get things all set up. heck, I'd like to see pictures of it now lol.

Oh its a nice looking tank!

What was the previous owner using it for? Couldn't really tell from the picture.

Freshwater fish I think. His whole basement was fish. He has a 300 gal tank and many others.

Yeah the 125 was his smallest tank, his "holding" tank but he was not planning on getting anymore fish so he did not need a holding tank anymore.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
