I recently got a new bearded dragon from a friend that didn't want him anymore. He is almost three years old and looks fairly healthy. He is also very active. The only problem is that he is a picky eater.
My friend told me that he was eating crickets as a baby but because it was such a hassle to keep crickets he switched to only giving him mealworms. He also could not get the beardie to eat greens so he would force feed them to him.
Reptar and Mushu, my other bearded dragons, have always had a great appetites. They will eat pretty much anything I offer them. Because if this I have never had to deal with a beardie that only likes one thing.
I very much want to get my new beardie on to a healthier diet than what he is used to. Are there any tricks I can use to get my new guy to eat crickets and greens?
(Also I know that crickets are not the best feeder insect. I normally feed dubia roaches, but I went on a trip and while I was away my friend managed to kill my whole colony. :? Where I live has unfortunately become to cold already to have new roaches shipped to me. By the looks of it my reptiles will have to deal with crickets this winter.)
