Hi! Felix is 1 and a half years old. He began to have swelling in his front left foot a couple of months ago so I took him to the vet. They did not run any blood work but did X-rays and decided it was probably gout. So for the past couple of months I have been feeding him solely greens to keep his uric acid levels low. But within the past month his right foot has become swollen as well. He has almost completely stopped eating. He barely moves anymore and I can just tell that he doesn't feel well. His eyes are almost always closed. I'm really worried about him. Today I started feeding him by syringe. So far I mixed squash baby food, vegetable baby food, calcium powder, and water together and gave it to him through syringe. He took it pretty well for his first time. I just ordered some dark cherry extract and alfalfa drops. I just don't want to have to put him down because he is so young. My mom doesn't want me to take him to the vet again because she doesn't want to have to pay that much money for "a lizard". So anything I can do from home will be super helpful. Thank you!

I'm sorry to hear he still isn't doing well. I definitely suggest trying the dark cherry extract along with plenty of water to see if that helps. If you can contact the vet and ask about Allopurinol I would but try the dark cherry extract for a while at least and see if that starts to help him feel better.

You sound like your doing things correctly. But your vet should have ordered allopurinol if they suspected gout. But they should have done labs and a aspiration of joint fliud. The diagnosis your vet came up with, made a diagnosis based on deduction without and supporting data other than appearance of an xray. It could be very inaccurate...it's never a good idea to diagnose gout on appearance alone.

Hello,

If you could post some pictures that would be helpful!
Please review your tank setup for us also so we can be sure it is all correct. The vet should have done a blood test to test for uric acid levels.
Definitely give daily oral fluids & give the black cherry juice/extract & alfalfa meal to help for the moment, when you them in.
He does need a blood test though.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
