Hello, I have a 2 year old male beardie. He eats mustard greens on a daily with a few dried super worms sprinkled on top. He will occasionally get squash and other fruits along with some carrots and things like that. For the past 3 weeks or so he has a very swollen toe, thumb if you will. I’m trying to resolve it on my own so I don’t have to spend $100+ going to the vet. Vets in Missouri for reptiles aren’t cheap. He gets calcium every other or so feedings on top of his greens. He also gets a few drops of vitamins as well. He is slowly shedding but I’ve looked at his toe and there’s no shed. He gets warm baths to try to resolve it but they don’t work. His toe will vary by the day on how swollen it is. It’s also fairly pink as well. I’m just not sure what else I can really do. Please respond ASAP. I am getting desperate on what to do to help my baby boy. Thank you!

Hello,

Do you feed him any live insects or just freeze dried ones?
Is he pretty good about eating his greens?
Please review your tank setup with us, such as the type/brand of UVB, temperatures, & the brands
of supplementation used. If you have pictures of his tank setup that is helpful, too.
Are there any other swollen toes/fingers, etc on him that you can tell?

He gets live crickets every week. He also gets live pinky mice once every several months. He has a day time bulb that gets about 100 degrees and he has just the 75 watt uvb from Walmart. Calcium powder is repti calcium and the vitamins is flukers liquid calcium. No other toes or Extremities are swollen

Hello,

I am wondering if he possibly hurt his toe or snagged it on the hammock? How is he doing
today?
How many crickets does he get every week? He will need calcium 2-3 times per week. The
Repcal calcium is fine, no problem at all.
Let us know how he is doing.

He has had that hammock since he was tiny. I’m not sure it’s that. Wouldn’t it have resolved if he just sprain it? He gets about 20 pinhead crickets. I buy them every weekend. The color of his thumb varies by the day. Today it’s not super pink but it’s still noticeably swollen

The waxy skin around the toe makes me think it might just be swelling to loosen a shed. Hopefully that's the case and it will shed soon and return to normal size. Is he shedding anywhere else?

He is slowly shedding the rest of his body. His feet and his legs shed a while back. Now his head and his belly is shedding

Hello,

If it is a little injury, it should heal right up. I agree, it could also be a shed on that toe, too.
Pinhead crickets are pretty small. He is an adult so he can have some that are a little
bigger than that, as long as they are smaller than the space between his eyes.
How is he doing today?

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
