beardie vomitted?

my dragon quincy was acting rather grumpy today. he had dark stress marks and wasnt chasing after his cricket dinner. after some research, me and my datefriend assumed perhaps he was getting ready to shed - thats why he was grumpy. however, we checked on him again in about a half hour and it looked like he had vomitted up quite a few crickets.

i estimate him to be maybe 10 weeks old, so he eats mainly crickets and only a small amount of greens. the temps in his cage are 100-110F on the warm side and around 84F on the cool side. i use non adhesive shelf liner as a "substrate".

my datefriend has leopard geckos and mentioned that they occasionally overeat and will vomit. is that what he did? if not, what other things couldve caused this?

he is active now and running around his tank, but still has not eaten his crickets. he still has very dark stress marks. its about the time i put him to bed, so maybe hes just tired and ready to sleep for the night.

Hi there....it may be that the crix were too large. Beardies need really small crix when they're babies.....no longer than the space between their eyes. Some pet stores carry " small" size crix that are actually too large for the babies. Can you post pics of your baby as well as the size of cricket he was eating ?

He will be thirsty tomorrow so be sure to give him water, either a shallow lukewarm 5-10 minute bath or you can just dribble water over his snout to give him a drink.

I can't tell exactly how big they are but they could be too large. Try to find some that are smaller than that. He'll probably bounce back quickly but won't be hungry tonight.....he may eat tomorrow, or may take another day to recupe. Don't feed him too many for his first meal, and if they are too large you can pull the heads off + just feed the abdomen until you can get some small crix. Good to hear that he's feeling better.

It's probably a result of the upset tummy. How long have you owned him ?

ive had him for a little less than a month. he seemed very happy and healthy this whole time ive had him, so it was a surprise to see him suddenly acting up.

I should have asked you that from the outset.....so have the crix been the same size consistently ? No change in the size ? Did you possibly handle him alot after eating, or feed him or bathe too late so he didn't have time to digest his food or was he roaming around or had any chance at all to eat something odd, either in or out of the tank ? It's unusual for healthy beardies to vomit unless something different happened with their feeding. How is he acting today ? If all else is ruled out and he continues to be sick you can take a fecal to be checked by a vet.
