I thought I'd share this beardie transport idea for the winter months, when it can be downright dangerous to move a lizard outside. I wanted to give my beardie a full checkup before she brumates this winter, so I started with an old sock, about 1/2 filled with rice. I heated that up in the microwave for 1 minute, so that it was warm, but NOT HOT. Then I put the rice sock into a cooler big enough for Pogona to turn around. Finally, I added Pogona on top. When we got to the vet, she was toasty warm. It lasted long enough that she was still warm when I returned home with her. This thing will last a long time, especially in a cooler. Pogona likes to cozy up to it, flatten herself against it.
In summer, I'd probably still use the cooler, but not the rice sock.
