hi ppl, i know i have asked alot of questions so ill keep this short, how are beardie stools supposed to look like, mine looks like bird poo, a long greenish strip with a little white bit, its not runny but its soft and around the poo there always seems to be a little wet area thats dried up, is that a healthy stool?
A healthy beardie stool should begin with the urate (indeed, like birds, beardies produce uric acid and therefore this is the form of their urine). The urate should be white or perhaps a bit pinkish, and should be soft or even runny. If urates are hard or chalky, that is a sign that your dragon is dehydrated and you'll want to remedy that with more frequent
bathing. If it is yellow or orange tinted, that can be a sign of beardie getting a bit too much calcium, and you will want to pull back for a spell on the cal until the calcium has been expelled.
The poop itself can be wet (often encased in a clear liquid), but should be
well formed . It can be brown or green or a combo of that, depending on what beardie is eating. When beardies are very young, the stool is often brown or dark brown due to the high number of live feeders. As they grow and start taking in more veggies and fruit, it will be more green in color. The tone (dark or light) of the color will change with the types of veggies and fruits beardie is eating... when our girl eats a bit more fruit, the color is lighter than say when she is eating mostly the greens in her salad.
Hope that helps a bit!
The best,
Em
