hey guys is it normal for a beardie to spend time on the cold side of his tank?... mine, who is roughly 7 months old has been spending considerable amounts of time laying flat on the cold side... he eats normally, poops normally, and acts normally once i start to hold him and bother him... but when i grab him his belly is pretty cool in temperature...
i have come home to find him laying on the far cool side of the tank a couple times ever since i upgraded his tank to a 40 gallon... once i feed him and he feels full, he then moves over to the hot side of his tank...
-Lights: Repti-Sun 10.0 18inch and a 100W zoomed basking spot lamp.
-i feed him Collard Greens with Butternut Squash all chopped and mixed every morning sprinkled with ExoTerra Calcium D3.
-i feed him for about 10-15 minutes everyday crickets. he can eat as many as 30 - 40 medium sized crickets in one sitting. (6 times a week with the Exo-Terra D3 Powder, and 1 time a week with ZooMed Reptivite Multi Vitamins).
-occasionally i feed him one waxworm as a treat, like maybe one or two waxworms a week...
-his tank temps are 78 degrees on the cool side and 95 degrees on the warm side, with the basking spot anywhere between 100 to 105 degrees...
am i doing everything alright?... or am i doing anything that may provoke this hanging on the cool side behavior... also, his tail is currently peeling, i dunno if this might be somewhat of a cause... he seems to be normal... it's just, i am worried about him not receiving the heat he needs...
any info will be greatly appreciated... THANK YOU!
