beardie sauna?

Hi I was at a pet store talking to a beardie owner and she has one of those log things where a beardie can bask on it or hide under it.

A weird trick she suggested was to put some wet Pete moss under the log making a sauna or something to help beardies shed.

Is this a good or bad idea?

I would be afraid that it might raise the humidity levels to a dangerous level, above 60% is not good. That is what a sauna is, a hot humid room (steam room).

She also suggested baby food to help baby beardies feed.

Bad idea to have anything moist under the hide .... a RI is a bad illness and best avoided.

Some give baby food to sick lizards.

If it's a hatchling, best to give frequent daily feeds of high quality insects as they need loads of high quality insect protein & fats and dietary calcium to grow and develop properly.

If bigger than 10g then I recommend the following for a young hatchling :
Ideal insects to use as staples for your baby beardie are
calcigents = phoenix worms
silkworms (recommend small size (about 1.5in))
crickets (recommend 1/3 size MAX)
locuses
or roaches , sized to suit.

TWO FEEDS of live insects PER DAY. (THREE IS BETTER)
