Hi All! I have had my Beardie, "Petri" for about two months, so I would estimate that he is 3 months old now. He is about 10-11" long head to tip of tail. In the past few weeks he has been "putting himself to bed". He crawls into his cave for the night.

Normally, he has been doing this at around 7:30 or 8:00 pm, but these past few days he has been heading to the cave before 6:00 pm! I am not sure why the change. His lights come on when we get up to get the kids ready for school at around 6:30am. When he goes into his cave, we turn his lights out.

Do any of your beardies put themselves to bed? If he is going to bed earlier, should we leave his lights on a bit longer, or follow his lead?

His appetite is good, but activity level seems a bit slowed down. He is shedding....but he seems to be constantly shedding these past few weeks one small body part at a time.

Any experienced advice or thoughts would be appreciated!
Thank you!

Yep, they are pretty cleaver little guys, I've found it happens with skinks and with beardies, they soon start putting themselve's to bed in their caves or hollow logs at about the same time each day.

Peppa and Toothless (now 6.5 months old) were retiring under their small hubbahuts from about 3 months old, grew out of them, so the head would disappear under and the rear half would be out (too big to curl up under there) , now have Rex and Puff's old acrylic fake logs and now they again have plenty of space to curl up and have been disappearing most nights about 6pm , just like their bigger matriarch Rex who disappears under her jumbo hubbahut about 6pm.

I still leave the lights on til 9pm , sometimes Peppa or Toothless come out to snack on the salad and greens and remaining crickets (from their 2nd meal) or to watch us (beg me for attention / a snuggle ) or watch TV.

They like a regular routine.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
