Today while I was giving my dragon his weekly bath, he caught his reflection in the mirror for the first time. He suddenly decided he was going to pick a fight with that 'other' dragon in the mirror:
I dried him off and put him back in his viv, but he's been blackbearding and headbobbing for about 20 minutes now. It's funny, but I don't know what's caused this sudden violent reaction to his reflection. He's been getting a bath twice a week in the same sink since I got him, and that mirror is not new. He's 10 months old. When do male dragons tend to hit beardie puberty, and could this newfound dominance be attributed to his growing up?
I ask because I am preparing for a new dragon, who will arrive late in the week. I have a temporary second tank all set and ready for use until I finish building my stacked Crossfire, but it's in line of sight of my male.
Given his reaction to the mirror today, do you guys think it'll cause problems if he sees a baby dragon about 6 feet from his viv?
EDIT: I should add that my leopard gecko is also in the room, and we haven't had any stress issues resulting in the dragon seeing the gecko.
