I got Puff about 3 weeks ago. The pet store told me he 8 weeks old. He was about 6 inches when we got him and now he's about 7.5 to 8 inches but he only weighs about 10 grams. I think something is wrong... He's about to shed his back. He shed his head and tail the second week we had him. He typically eats 20 crickets a day and poos every day, sometimes more than once. I'm not sure he's as old as they told me was. I'm just worried about him.

Hi. What is the set up like? Do you feed him 2x a day for 10 mins? Do you offer salads? 20 crickts a day is not very much for a baby.

At 11 weeks old my Puff and Rex were 35g and 40g and sharing a 100L rearing tub. At 8 weeks my two were 11g each.

At the same age my two were eating me out of house and home , 35 - 40 small crickets each , split into am (brekky) feed and pm (diner) feed , plus greens (puk/buk choi) + grated/chopped veg (sweet potato , carrot, raw peas, raw bean, puk/puk choi + mixed softened juvenile beardie pellets and vetafarm lizard pellets , all mixed together , offered first thing in am before first live insect feeding.

Are you sure your Puff is only 10g (did you tare/zero the scales properly) ? maybe the pet shop was telling porkies regarding his age to get a sale of a much younger hatchling than 8 weeks old.

We feed him twice a day. It ranges. Some days he will eat closer to 30. We offer him mustard greens and squash. His basking spot is 101-108. His cool side is about 78. He's starting to shed again so he isn't eating much. He's been shedding 2 out of the 3 weeks we have had him.

My guy didnt start his first growth spurt until he was about 14 weeks old. Until then his weight was similar to yours and I was askimg myself the same questions! If your heat and light are good then I'd say let him do his thing and he will grow I promise.

Thank you! That makes me feel better! He doesn't have any symptoms of MBD. He hasn't starting head bobbing yet either, which makes me think he's way younger than the pet store said he was. He just started puffing his beard this week.

The beard puffing thing is throat - beard skin stretching (usually done a short while before a shed).

You can hand feed their insects to them if he's not so keen on eating them.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
